Front End Developer

Job Description

My client is a market leading on-line travel company and is looking for a front-end developer reporting to the Head of User Experience who will help build the front end applications used by Affiliates and their customers. This Affiliate Network is the largest private label travel solution in the world, with an overall global retail business of over $1 billion.

I am looking for a result-oriented, proactive, and creative individual to be part of a very strong user experience team. You will play an active role in certain aspects of front end development, focusing on web site optimization and enhancement implementations from inception to release.
You must have solid web development/programming experience, using hand-coded JavaScript, XHTML, tableless CSS and JSP. I am looking for someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge and skills to code for cross-browser compatibility.

Responsibilities:

Build and maintain the presentation layer of affiliate websites and web applications
Participate in code reviews of other developers' work
May need to interface with 3rd parties on technical designs and issues
Present technical issues and their business impact to management
Work closely with various business teams, coordinating projects, and communicating technical issues using non-technical language

Qualifications:

Hand-coded standards-compliant XHTML
Proficient-level tableless CSS layouts
Proficient -level JavaScript and DOM API (Object oriented experience preferred)
JSP and familiarity with various tag libraries
Proficient-level knowledge of cross-browser, cross-platform compatibility and design constraints
Familiarity with the following is a strong plus: Ajax, JSON, Yahoo! Developer Library (or something similar), PERL or some other scripting language, WCAG accessibility guidelines
Image editing skills with Photoshop and other standard tools is a plus, but not required.
Ability to write clean, coherent, well-documented code and to follow established coding style guidelines
Excellent verbal and written skills, with proven ability to communicate complex ideas and to design and document projects in a clear, concise way
